3 x Business Analyst

About the Role

We are looking for a Business Analyst with a broad range of experience to take responsibility for the methodical investigation, analysis, review and documentation of business functions and processes, the information used and the data on which the information is based.  You will define testable requirements for improving processes and systems, reducing their costs, enhancing their sustainability, the quantification of potential business benefits, and will deliver the collaborative creation and iteration of viable improvement, specification and acceptance criteria for information systems, information management, business practices, processes, and organisation change.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Produce high quality project deliverables by selecting and applying appropriate methods and standards in order to:
    • Lead / facilitate investigations and decision making ensuring that the views of stakeholders are considered, verified and validated
    • Elicit and document testable requirements and processes with business stakeholders. Resolve conflicts and obtain agreement on the requirement and ensure appropriate prioritisation is applied to meet the business objectives
    • Inform and educate stakeholders on potential contribution by technology
  • Utilize standardized best-in-class business analysis techniques to gain a thorough understanding of business need that you will use in support of and in collaboration with key stakeholders to enable the best technology and process outcomes.
  • Support the project delivery process, ensuring that risks and issues are raised and mitigated, actions and decisions are logged, and that deliverables match requirements.
  • Comply and contribute to team business analysis tools and practices.
  • Build collaborative relationships with OUP colleagues in Operations, Technology, and wider OUP stakeholders.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You


  • A successful track record of delivering high quality business analysis on projects in a complex geographical / functional matrix organisation, utilising recognised tools and techniques including BPMN and Story writing.
  • Familiarity with working in a global organisation using in-sourced and out-sourced services
  • Experience of working on both PRINCE2 and Agile delivery projects
  • Experience working for complex organisations undergoing complex and significant transformation, disruption and/or change.


  • A relevant professional qualification e.g. BCA / IIBA Business Analysis Certifications
  • Publishing industry experience in both physical print and digital solutions
  • Knowledge and understanding of both product and enabling platforms including web, content management, CRM/marketing, data/reporting and ERP applications.
