Compliance Advisor, Group Functions

The Group Functions Compliance team works with employees and contractors across Group Functions (HR, Legal, Finance, Technology, Communications, Operations and Business Change) managing anti-corruption, counter fraud and other related activities to reduce relevant risks and protect the Press’s reputation.

As part of this team the Compliance Advisor will play a key role in supporting the Divisional Compliance Manager implementing the Press’s corporate compliance programme in the relevant business areas.

You will:

  • Support the Divisional Compliance Officer (DCO), the Divisional Compliance Manager (DCM), and Functional Leads in implementation of appropriate compliance-related policies and procedures across the Group Functions driven through effective communication and ease of accessibility of those policies. This includes developing relevant Oxford Share (OUP intranet) pages to make compliance processes accessible to employees and contractors in Group Functions.
  • Develop the relevant training materials and deliver training sessions to employees and third parties.
  • Perform the risk assessment and due diligence activity across Group Functions for new and existing business partners.  This requires broad liaison across the departments including some senior stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain adequate records for the compliance activities undertaken by the team. Produce relevant reports of the Group Functions registers (e.g. risk assessment and due diligence log, gifts and hospitality register, conflict of interest and other relevant declarations and associated processes).
  • Support DCM and DCO in providing ABC Compliance advice to Group Functions in relation to OUP Ethical Policies and the corresponding divisional processes and procedures.
  • Co-ordinate and be responsible for delivering aspects of the Group Functions Monitoring and Review Plan.  This includes conducting thematic reviews, analysing data in the reports, co-ordinating completion of activities by other appointed persons, documenting findings and assisting the DCO and DCM in the production of reports.

About You

  • Experience in working in compliance departments undertaking risk assessment and due diligence, conducting training;
  • Understanding of the Bribery Act 2010 and its implications for UK organisations;
  • Strong organisational skills/ability to prioritise and manage heavy workloads to deadlines;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – professional and diplomatic;
  • High level of attention to detail/accuracy;
  • Proactive, professional approach;
  • Good analytical skills;
  • IT literate - database knowledge and intermediate level in Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Outlook, and Excel.
