About the Role

The Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) team at OUP publishes a wide range of successful and respected courses for ages 11 to 18 across a range of languages including French, German and Spanish. These include print and digital resources for teachers and students. This is an exciting opportunity to make an impact in MFL education, by joining the secondary schools team at OUP as MFL Development Editor. We are looking for an enthusiastic publishing professional with excellent communication, team work and project management skills, to join our successful Secondary MFL editorial team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Progressing resources through the production process, from manuscript to finished product (both print and digital resources).
  • Proactive problem-solving to ensure that resources come out to schedule and within budget.
  • Liaising with colleagues, freelancers, authors and suppliers.
  • Monitoring spend against defined budgets.
  • Developing skills in print and digital resource production for the schools market.

We’re all currently working from home at the moment due to COVID.  We are currently thinking through how we use our offices in the future and are open to discussing flexibility within this, such as a blend of office and home working.

About You

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

  • A high level of competence (fluent) in French and either German or Spanish.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritise and communicate effectively.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and great attention to detail.
  • An ability to maintain and administer editorial systems.
  • Knowledge of the UK schools market as well as a familiarity with language learning in the UK.
  • A high level of computer literacy.
