The Geography team in the Oxford Education Division produces a range of print and digital resources for learners of Geography in UK secondary schools.  

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an Editor to contribute to the development of market-leading resources for learners of Geography in secondary schools.

The successful applicant will take print and digital projects through the production process, working with authors and other editors, and design and production teams, to ensure that high-quality, market-appropriate products publish on time and within budget.

Responsibilities include:

  • Editing content
  • Maintaining schedules and monitoring budgets
  • Working with authors
  • Working with freelance editors
  • Project management of aspects of the content creation process
  • Contributing to marketing material, supporting the sales team   

About You

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in Geography OR have editorial experience in Geography.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • A commitment to producing content to the highest standards
  • A rigorous approach to editing content for both print and digital products
  • Experience of working with authors and freelance editors
  • Experience of educational publishing         
  • High levels of literacy and numeracy
  • Strong ICT skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Excellent project-management skills

Desirable:

  • Geography subject knowledge
  • Experience of teaching in the school types for which we produce resources
  • Experience of creating materials for students of different levels of ability
