Editorial Assistant

The Academic division publishes books, journals and digital resources for the research, professional and higher education markets across a number of publishing areas. 

The Editorial Programme team works to develop and deliver products in multiple formats across a variety of subject areas. We are looking for an efficient, professional and proactive Editorial Assistant, to provide editorial and administrative support to the team.

A typical day would be:

  • Working on allocated projects with programme team colleagues and external authors/editor teams, during content preparation; receive, process and track content, answer queries and provide author and editor support;
  • Maintaining accurate content and product metadata and ensure records are updated;
  • Supporting commissioning process, assisting with product approval, peer review and contracting stages;
  • Process payment/gratis requests through relevant systems;
  • Ability and confidence with MS office packages (Word/Excel/Outlook)
  •  
  • Reviewing content data on digital products and services in advance of publication;
  • Liaise with colleagues from other functions including Content Operations, Royalties, Marketing and Customer Services, to ensure the efficiency of the publishing process and the effective presentation of our products.

Experience of publishing is not essential but you will be accurate, organized, calm and have an excellent eye for detail.. You will be able to handle detailed and sometimes complex tasks, often under time pressure, without losing either your accuracy or sense of humour! You will have a positive outlook on working life, and a flexible approach to helping others. You must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in various contexts.
