Finance Business Partner, International Offices

About the Role

This is an exciting new and unique opportunity to work across our international rep offices (IOs) with a variety of stakeholders. The IO’s conduct marketing activities in 34 countries outside the UK (headcount 1 to 40). You’ll be responsible for ensuring central oversight is provided from a financial perspective, through defining and implementing robust controls and ensuring there are consistent processes. This role provides you with the autonomy to influence and space to grow with the role. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that IOs comply with all local regulatory requirements and OUP Group Accounting Policies
  • Responsible and accountable for the integrity of the IO financial accounts, ensuring that reconciliations have been performed correctly
  • Ensure that systems and processes are adapted to accommodate business needs and Group reporting requirements
  • Lead on projects regarding the status/set up/closure of international entities to meet business requirements, ensuring Group Tax, Legal, HR, and Treasury advice is sought and adhered to
  • Manage third party accounting and payroll provider relationships relating to IOs
  • Identify and recommend best practices for streamlining and standardising working practices
  • Responsible for the OUP IO Manual, defining processes and procedures; ensuring these are implemented consistently across all IOs and approving local T&E guidelines
  • Responsible for ensuing IOs’s have sufficient funding and authorisation of all IO funding requests,
  • Responsible for the timely closure of audit points in IOs, liaising with all parties to resolve issues
  • Represent IOs on Group projects, ensuring the requirements of the IOs are raised and included
  • Working with tax to manage tax exposure by implementing compliant transfer pricing policies
  • Manage, develop and motivate the International Office Accountant

We operate a hybrid working policy and expect this role to require approximately 1-2 days per week in the Oxford office. 

About You

This role requires someone with solid finance knowledge but more importantly someone with the ability to communicate with a variety of people, understanding where to seek information, problem solve and create meaningful relationships. To be successful in this role you will need:


  • Accountancy qualification – newly qualified or part qualified level
  • To be a self-starter with the confidence to work independently where needed
  • To be comfortable dealing with external auditors, Group Audit, Tax and HR.


  • Previous experience in a role where you have helped define policies and procedures
  • Financial accounting experience
  • International business partnering experience
  • People management experience.
