About the Role

This Financial Analyst role is a key role in the preparation and delivery of consolidated monthly management reports, the 5-year Business Plan and annual Budget. Reporting into the Financial Analysis & Planning Manager, the successful individual will need to manage a complex workload with multiple deadlines and stakeholders. This role provides a very good opportunity to learn and understand the wider Academic business.

Responsibilities also include...

  • Participate fully in the process ensuring that accurate and consistent information is prepared on a timely basis.
  • Support the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager in the month end and year end process.
  • Act as an effective business partner across Academic to provide a comprehensive, professional and effective financial and commercial support service.
  • Perform ad-hoc business analysis to aid effective decision making.
  • Represent Academic on cross divisional projects so that the Division’s best interests are expressed.
  • Maintain and enhance processes in order to fulfil the requirements of Group Finance’s ‘representation letter’ and demonstrate that the Academic financial statements comply with Group policies.
  • Work effectively as part of the Academic Finance team, the Academic Business and also across the wider OUP group. 
  • Maintain good communication with the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager raising any issues/problems/time pressures as soon as appropriate.

Please note, this is a fixed term contract of 6 months with the possibility of extension.

About You

In order to be successful in this role, you must be...

  • Part qualified or studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
  • Initiative and ability to successfully implement new ideas
  • Have the ability to manage a complex workload with multiple deadlines and stakeholders
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience of data analysis, interpretation, reconciliation and presentation
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Discrete and trustworthy
  • A good team player
