Group Compliance Advisor

The Compliance function is responsible for ensuring that we conduct business in accordance with high ethical standards. The group compliance team develops policies, provides advice on difficult issues, ensures consistency in approach across business units, conducts monitoring and review activities, and is the central point for managing ethical concerns.

About the Role

We are looking for a Group Compliance Advisor to report to the Group Compliance Manager. This is an interesting and varied role with a global remit.  It is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and experience in a large, international publishing business. 

 Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supporting the Group Compliance Manager in maintaining and developing OUP's compliance programme.
  • Day to day management of the annual Group-wide compliance exercise. 
  • Carrying out initial reviews of high risk business activities. 
  • Supporting the Group Compliance Manager in developing and implementing the monitoring and review programme, including carrying out reviews of UK and overseas OUP businesses and entities. 
  • Maintaining and developing central compliance systems. 
  • Carrying out other tasks or responsibilities as required, including providing support on investigations. 

 About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience of implementing and developing ethics and compliance programmes in global organisations.
  • Flexible and collaborative approach and good judgment. 
  • Strong ethical sense and understanding of the business.
  • Good project management skills. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.

Desirable:

  • An appropriate professional qualification e.g. law or accountancy.
