The UK Education Marketing Department works closely with schools and booksellers across the UK and internationally. Supporting teachers, parents and learners with high quality resources, technologies, and professional development, our aim is to help to improve the lives of young people through education.

About the role

The Head of Marketing - Planning & Development is a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, initially for 6 months.  It will lead the Ed-UK Marketing Department’s central marketing planning and strategy services in order to ensure we successfully deliver the long-term Ed-UK marketing vision and strategy and are fully supporting our divisional business objectives.

The role holder will have ownership for:

  • Our global approach to marketing planning and major programme management through a centralised framework that ensures we meet our long-term vision and goals and are fully integrated with other key functions. 
  • Strategic marketing for key initiatives such as Assessment and other strategic partnership services, ensuring they are defined, scoped and integrated into our sales and marketing strategy
  • Global Events and Events and PD marketing strategy, working with key stakeholders, experts and partners both internally and externally to develop and deliver services that help us to acquire more customers across our key markets.
  • A central programme for marketing learning and development, in support of our strategic objectives and ensuring we develop and retain talent and are operating with optimum effectiveness throughout the department.
  • Our global approach to customer segmentation, targeting and engagement, working with the sector leads, customer insight, and systems experts to define and deliver our requirements.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of marketing at a senior strategy level
  • Extensive team management experience with excellent leadership skills
  • Experience of setting and leading cross-divisional business and marketing strategy
  • Experience of leading cross-divisional business initiatives
  • Strong entrepreneurial skills and experience of forming strategic partnerships
  • Knowledge of the education sector
  • Experience of setting and managing budgets
  • Excellent presentational and interpersonal skills across teams and divisions
  • Experience of using management information systems to analyse business performance and market trends
  • Educated to degree level desirable, ideally with a business/marketing qualification
