Lead Technology Project Accountant

Technology is a central function led by the Chief Information Officer, providing technology services globally across the Press.

We are looking for a Lead Technology Project Accountant to drive planning, reporting and forecasting of large technology projects to enable Global Technology to control, monitor, forecast and adapt financial performance.

Responsibilities include…

  • Planning and tracking technology project performance, challenging commercially on the outputs versus expectations, tracking benefits and communicating any lessons learnt
  • Pro-actively business partnering with project managers and budget holders to enable cost alignment with the budget
  • Providing advice and guidance for all Technology staff and being a divisional liaison
  • Leading reporting and process improvements, supporting the Head of Technology Finance in implementing change and other business initiatives across Global Technology
  • Ensuring effective cost control and identifying opportunities for efficiency
  • Leading and managing the Technology Project Finance team in the delivery of the above

About you

In order to be successful in the role, you must...

  • Be a qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent)
  • Have experience (at a senior level) of the financial control/management of a large department or function        
  • Have a thorough understanding of project business cases, and their implications on financial reporting and commercial matters
  • Have excellent analytical skills, budgeting and forecast modelling skills, with the ability to interpret and analyse data to make informed and insightful business recommendations
  • Have excellent communication skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships at all levels within the organisation
  • Have the ability to develop, lead, and motivate a team of people             

And ideally have…

  • Experience of supporting an internal technology function or software company
  • Experience of project management methodologies and change programme best practice
  • Knowledge of the IT sector
