Marketing Executive

The Academic division publishes books, journals, and digital resources for the research, professional, and higher education markets.

About the role

We are looking for a Marketing Executive who will work across a selection of digital products, with particular responsibilities for planning and implementing integrated marketing campaigns.

The Reference and Online Product Marketing department is a dynamic team within OUP, which is responsible for the diverse portfolio of Oxford University Press’s digital products. The team promotes usage and awareness through predominantly digital marketing techniques to global audiences, working with teams across the Press both in the UK and internationally, focusing on effective user experiences, and acting as brand representatives to the business.

Core responsibilities of the role include: 

  • Developing detailed product knowledge, working across many global teams (including Sales, Marketing, Editorial, and Customer Support), to provide seamless communication about product developments and answering any product questions
  • Researching, planning, and implementing content marketing campaigns which work across multiple social media channels, including the OUPblog and Twitter – within budgets and frameworks set by managers
  • Working with managers to analyse market feedback, competition, product usage, and sales data, in order to develop marketing plans in response to those needs
  • Engaging with external designers to develop marketing materials across different channels, including print, web, social media, and email
  • Developing and editing content in HTML on the public pages of the online products, and working to improve Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in our marketing
  • To work in conjunction, and provide assistance to, both junior and senior team members, as the role requires

About you

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have proven marketing experience
  • Demonstrate initiative, creative problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including editing and copyediting
  • Have strong IT skills, with an aptitude for picking up new systems quickly
  • Have exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and quickly without supervision

Desirable:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with HTML, InDesign, Photoshop, and SEO
  • Knowledge of digital marketing techniques including content marketing and social media
