About Us

The Academic division publishes books, journals, and digital resources for the research, professional, and higher education markets.  This role is within the Higher Education (HE) department, where we commission, shape and develop content to support teaching and learning in the Higher Education sector.

 

About the Role

This role will see you partner with Editors and others in the product team to deliver digital solutions for our largest revenue titles so that we gain new market share and deliver on increased digital penetration year over year.

You'll be designing and creating online and digital products, interfacing between the developers and the editorial and marketing teams to bring these to life.

The Media Editor is closely attuned to the digital landscape and engages frequently with our university lecturer and student customers. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Partner closely with the program Editor to conceive of compelling digital solutions for our titles.
  • Devote time to researching emerging technology trends in the higher education sector.
  • Support the ongoing agile development of digital products.
  • In partnership with the Editor, determine budget and resource allocation for all digital product solutions, proof-of-concepts, and prototype needs
  • Draft, acquire, and manage the transmittal to production of the content that underlies digital products
  • Assist Sales and Marketing with training product teams, sales specialists, and sales representatives on new digital products.
  • Travel to support sales efforts on campus.

 

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • have a university degree
  • have relevant experience in higher education publishing (sales, editorial, product design and/or development)
  • possess existing knowledge of the Higher education market, and publishing will be required
  • be familiar with the major VLEs (Virtual Learning Environment) or LMS' (Learning Management System)
  • have good customer-facing skills
  • be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; have basic familiarity with HTML; have working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
