Regional Compliance Manager

About the Role

This role is responsible for leading the ELT compliance program activities for the UK and Europe business, based in the UK. The compliance role is to ensure that adequate procedures, controls and support are in place for the region to ensure that the Division is compliant with the provisions of the UK Bribery Act 2010, and other relevant legislation and related Press policies.

The responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a centre of expertise for OUP's code of conduct, anti-bribery and fraud and other ethical policies and processes across ELT businesses in the region.
  • Ensuring that the businesses have appropriate compliance related policies and procedures in place which are well communicated and easily accessible.
  • Maintaining regional risk assessment schedules on the key areas of risk with appropriate action plans.
  • Conducting proportionate due diligence on and monitor associated parties based on risk ratings.
  • Ensuring that appropriate training is provided to all staff including associated parties where appropriate to maintain an awareness of ethical principles and processes.
  • Maintaining adequate compliance procedures and comprehensive records and provide continuous reporting to the ELT Divisional Compliance Officer as well as local management.

This role includes up to 30% travel within the UK and Europe. 

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive Compliance experience in leading a compliance program, including extensive knowledge of the UK Bribery Act and managing a team.
  • An appropriate Compliance training or certification is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills required to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in an international environment and being able to adapt to a diverse range of situations, surroundings and working cultures.
  • Proven strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Fluent in English language and an advantage if other relevant regional languages are spoken.
