About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role within our global real estate and workplace centre of excellence team, responsible for providing sites and operations in the region with professional leadership, guidance, and support to comply with OUP’s global safety policy. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Designing, upkeeping, and improving appropriate local safety management arrangements, ensuring effective implementation
Supporting the development, implementation, training, and testing of safety related resiliency plans for critical sites in your region
Implementing global workplace safety strategic objectives in coordination with other regional managers and Head of Safety and Security.
Providing professional guidance, advice, and support to colleagues, including senior managers, to enable them to fulfil their health and safety roles and responsibilities
Establishing and maintaining meaningful assurance and reporting mechanisms that fulfil global safety requirements as well as aid local senior management
Ensuring sites have robust emergency response and incident management arrangements
Supporting investigations: analyse incident data and act on any wider lessons learnt
Managing safety related awareness training of all employees in region
Maintaining records and submit reports as required for legal and internal compliance
Creating and maintaining appropriate safety information resources for colleagues
Keeping professional knowledge and skills up to date in relation to matters associated with the Press’s risk profile.
This role does not involve the direct provision or management of occupational health services but does have a strong interface with this discipline.
We operate a hybrid working policy with this role requiring 2 days per week in the Oxford office. This role may require occasional international travel.

About You
You’ll be experienced at a senior level within a safety management role and be enthusiastic about the importance of safety with the ability to establish credible relationships both internally and externally. To be successful in this role you will have:
Essential:
Membership of a recognized professional safety body
Have experience of supporting safety in an estates/facilities management environment
Up to date knowledge of relevant requirements, guidance, and good practices
Ability to drive improvements through building productive relationships and engaging, influencing, and collaborating with people at all levels
A practical and proportionate risk-based approach to safety management
Willingness to travel on occasion if required
The ability to adapt to different cultures
Hold an appropriate safety qualification.
Good knowledge of Safety related regulatory standards and compliances.
Desirable:
Experience of working in a safety management internationally
Experience working for an international/global organization
Knowledge of ISO 4501.
