Senior Group Internal Auditor

About the Role

As Senior Group Internal Auditor you’ll be part of a small team working globally to identify, prioritise and manage our risks. This role offers the opportunity to truly see all of OUP; you’ll be travelling internationally c.35% of your time, completing audits across our rep offices and branches.

Reporting to the Senior Group Internal Audit Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring financial and operational controls are operating efficiently and effectively, complying with relevant laws and corporate governance standard as well as adhering to our Group ethical policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assignments from the audit plan to a high standard within targeted deadlines and budgets, producing clear and concise audit reports
  • Provide independent advice on the controls framework and review risk mitigation
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders through the delivery of first-class audit work
  • Complete functional activities to ensure the department meets the Institute of Internal Auditors standards
  • Conduct special investigations into cases of alleged fraud and/or serious negligence as requested and agreed with Group Compliance
  • Deliver workshops and presentations on internal audit and risk management as required
  • Deputise for the Group Internal Audit Manager as required

About You

To be successful in this role you’ll first and foremost need excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to work, communicate and build strong working relationships with a broad range of people. You’ll be inquisitive, creative in researching and analysing systems and processes, and have the ability to influence when presenting findings.

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant, or significant finance/accounting knowledge through experience
  • Experience of delivering audits and working as part of a multi-national audit team
  • Strong understanding of internal control structures and risk management frameworks
  • Excellent report writing skills with a high attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of SAP and experience in using computer aided audit tools (CAATs) and audit management software
  • Previous experience of the publishing industry
  • Fluency in relevant additional languages

We are open to discussing options for flexibility on working hours and the use of technology to support occasional remote working, dependent on role.

Our pension contribution is up to 11%.
