Senior Marketing Executive

About Us

About us

Oxford University Press is a department of the University of Oxford, which furthers the University’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide.

Global Academic publishes books, journals, and digital resources for the research, professional, and higher education markets.

We are looking for a Senior Marketing Executive to work within the Humanities team, part of the wider Discipline Marketing team, with particular responsibilities for planning and implementing integrated marketing campaigns.

About the role

The Discipline Marketing team promotes the breadth and quality of content published by OUP across a particular subject area or discipline. As a discipline marketer, you would devise campaigns that champion the product offering within your assigned discipline - print or online - in order to drive awareness, usage, or sales. Marketing activities range from email marketing and advertising, to promotion at conferences and forming partnerships with learned societies and associations, and more.

Core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Creating and implementing multi-channel marketing plans for a selected discipline within the Humanities department
  • Reporting back on campaigns to managers, evaluating campaign success and performance against key targets and metrics, and making recommendations for future campaigns
  • Communicating marketing plans or strategy to internal and external stakeholders (e.g. editorial and sales colleagues, or authors), instilling confidence in our marketing vision
  • Formulating effective marketing plans to maximise attendance at various academic conferences, and representing OUP at these conferences where required
  • Working closely with colleagues across different locations, and providing support to both junior and senior team members, as required
  • Managing a budget; tracking costs and reporting back on ROI
  • Working with managers to analyse market feedback, competition, product usage, and sales data, in order to develop marketing plans in response to those needs

About you

The ideal candidate must:

  • Have proven marketing experience
  • Demonstrate digital marketing and content marketing skills
  • Demonstrate initiative, creative problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including editing and copy-editing
  • Have exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and quickly without supervision
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders in multiple locations and across functions
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desirable:

  • Experience with Google Ads and social media advertising
  • Experience with HTML, InDesign, Photoshop, and SEO/SEM
  • Experience of working within the publishing industry
