Strategy and Delivery Manager

The Press’s Education Division provides educational resources and solutions to teachers, parents, learners and institutions. We cover Primary, Secondary, Trade and early learning markets, both for the UK and for customers around the world. The Strategy & Delivery (S&D) team is a Strategic Enabling Function within the Press’ Education Division. They are responsible for facilitating the growth and success of the Education Division and its markets with insights, strategic analysis, strategy development and strategic delivery support to promote fast, effective decision making and execution.

About the Role

Within this newly created role you will play a key role in supporting the Education Division’s success, reporting into the Director of Strategy and Delivery. This will be a varied role where the right candidate can utilize their analytical, synthesising, strategic, and written skills to support decision making, as well as ensuring that our strategic planning and reporting runs to time and is delivered to a high quality.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working with the Strategy and Delivery Director to create, communicate and manage the strategic planning process
  • Supporting the delivery of the strategy, five year plan and budget submissions for the Education Division
  • Running the divisions ‘must wins’ and strategic KPI creation process, ensuring appropriate targets are set that can be tracked consistently over a multi-year period
  • Owning the monthly reporting process, working with colleagues to consolidate and deliver key reports for the Education Division to track progress, successes, and risks
  • Supporting the Director of Strategy and Delivery and Divisional SLT to ensure that the strategic plans and priorities are translated into delivery, including support for the creation and/or editing of executive approval papers where needed
  • Maintaining insights and key business data to support divisional planning processes, collaboration, and decision making

About You

You will be a pro-active, self- sufficient and self-motivated with the ability to communicate at all levels, pushing back and negotiating when required to ensure deliverables are on time and to of the right level of detail and quality. You will also have:


  • Experience of developing objectives and KPI’s to measure and drive performance (annual and long term strategic)
  • Track record of structuring, writing, and delivering compelling and high quality papers / presentations
  • Knowledge of creating and implementing strategic planning and reporting processes
  • The ability consolidate / synthesise information and data into summarised outputs, focusing on materiality, risks, and key messages
  • Proven track record of demonstrating ability to manage/influence stakeholders of all levels and align colleagues behind a common goal
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and committed to hitting tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills with the ability to produce visually attractive and well-articulated presentations, papers, and reports
  • Outstanding team player who is able to work across different time zones, markets and cultures and who engages in a culture of partnership, teamwork and collaboration
