System Strategy Analyst

About the Role

As our new System Strategy Analyst, known internally as Enabling Systems Strategy Analyst, you will support the Enabling Systems Strategy Lead and Managers in the day-to-day management of one or more enabling systems, managing the interface between the business and technology teams. You will support the business in system change and development, working closely with Technology teams to triage bugs and issues, manage small change, develop and deliver training and systems documentation, and support the business in its use of systems and data.

This is a varied role that is ideally suited to someone with a background in Business Analysis or Project Administration, who is confident investigating and documenting business requirements.  You should be resourceful, organised and a good problem solver, as well as a good communicator with an aptitude for learning.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Supporting Enabling Systems Strategy Lead and Managers as required through the value stream process, working with Technology teams to prioritise and deliver system development and changes.
  • Developing system requirements with key stakeholders from the business, ensuring that what the business needs is understood and documented.
  • Supporting users with How do I? and process queries.
  • Writing and maintaining high quality systems documentation, and training materials as required.
  • Planning and coordinating user acceptance testing. Analyse test results, raise issues, and track resolution.
  • Supporting business change in relation to systems and processes, including projects and programmes as required.
  • Supporting key user and end user training, and the ability of users to utilise the application most effectively, working with Enabling Systems Training Lead on agreed templates and formats.
  • Work with the business to identify and implement opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement, to improve business effectiveness, and user experience, working towards the Simplify goal for aligning systems across OUP.

We operate a hybrid working policy and expect this role to require no more than 1 day per week in the Oxford office, however a less frequent arrangement can be considered.

About You

You will have:

  • The ability to multi-task effectively and adapt well to the fast pace of change in the organisation
  • Demonstrable analytical skills, subject matter expertise, and business knowledge
  • Knowledge of system development lifecycle, and best practice for system change management
  • Experience of working in a matrix organisation
  • Experience of working in publishing or a similar industry in a relevant role is desirable
  • Some knowledge of business analysis and development methodologies, particularly Agile development
