We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our vibrant Back Office Portfolio Delivery team in the Group Technology function. The Business Analyst will play a crucial role in understanding business requirements and processes, gathering information, delivering analysis, and resolving problems within various projects and programs.
The role will drive the requirements elicitation process, ensuring appropriate stakeholder input. They are responsible for clear, testable, prioritised requirements to improve processes and technology systems with the aim of reducing costs, enhancing sustainability, and realising potential business benefits. They obtain formal agreement from a large and diverse range of potentially senior stakeholders for scope and requirements, as well a baseline for which delivery of a solution can commence. As an integral member of a project team, they support and are involved in delivering viable improvement for technology systems, information management, business processes and organisational change.
The business analyst works within the Portfolio Planning and Delivery Department, Enterprise Technology Services (ETS). Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) is responsible for the delivery of IT Services needed to run the Press, including Infrastructure, End User Services & Enterprise Applications.
The Portfolio Planning and Delivery function works closely with business and technology stakeholders to understand business needs, prioritise demand and ensure the successful delivery of outcomes via committed programmes or projects.
Key responsibilities in this role will include:
Produce high quality project deliverables by selecting and applying appropriate business analysis methods and standards to:
Lead / facilitate investigations and decision making, ensuring that the views of stakeholders are considered, verified, and validated.
Elicit and document testable requirements and processes from business and technology stakeholders. Resolve conflicts to obtain agreement on the requirements and ensure appropriate prioritisation is applied to meet the business objectives.
Inform and help stakeholders understand the potential contribution by technology.
Collaborate on the detailed design of solutions with Enterprise/Solution Architects ensuring they meet the requirements and needs of the business
Support the development of domain level business architectures and business processes
Identify and raise risks, issues and change impacting the requirements and project plans. Facilitate mitigation as required
Support the implementation of solutions – checking the solution is not deviating from the business requirements
Comply with and contribute to team business analysis tools, standards, and practices
Build collaborative relationships with colleagues in both Technology and business divisions
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have/be:
Successful track record of delivering high quality business analysis on projects in a complex geographical / functional matrix organisation, utilising recognised tools and techniques
Familiar with working in a global organisation using in-sourced and out-sourced services
Experience of working on both PRINCE2 and Agile delivery projects
Practices attentive and active listening, and can accurately restate the opinions of others without bias
Can quickly find common ground and solve problems in a proactive manner, ensuring all stakeholders are considered and engaged. Is seen as a team player, co-operative, encourages collaboration, and can easily gain the trust and support of peers
The ability to understand business (industry, company, and products) and technical concepts quickly, learn new skills and acquire knowledge
Dedicated to providing high quality business analysis deliverables that meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders

Use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions, looking beyond the obvious and not stopping at the first answer
Widely trusted, seen as a direct and truthful individual that can present the unvarnished truth in an appropriate and helpful manner. Able to keep confidences, admit mistakes and doesn’t misrepresent themself for personal gain
Relevant professional business analysis qualifications e.g. BCS, IIBA (desirable)
Publishing industry experience in both physical print and digital solutions (desirable)
