Designer (Fixed Term Contract)

About Us

Education changes lives forever. It broadens horizons, breaks down barriers, and fires imaginations. Like the University of Oxford of which we are a part, we are committed to uncompromising standards, freedom of expression, and the enrichment of lives through education. This is our motivation, our purpose, and our mission. It is why 100% of the money we make is reinvested into education and research. It is why all 6,000 of us in 52 countries care deeply about reaching more people, in more places, with world-class learning and research materials and services.

The Education Division provides books and resources across Primary, Secondary, Trade and Children's markets, both for the UK and for customers around the world. We are passionately committed to our mission to educate and inspire.

About the Role

NB This is a fixed term contract for six months with possibility of extension

This is an exciting new opportunity for a talented, creative and motivated designer to join our busy marketing design team creating high quality digital and print marketing assets to support our world leading educational brands. The right candidate will work with existing brand guidelines and templates, and also create and present new concepts for campaigns and marketing pieces.

Responsibilities will include producing high quality design for predominantly digital and some print delivery, commissioning illustration and other visual content where appropriate, managing external design suppliers, and supporting the day to requirements of multiple marketing teams in a confident, timely and professional manner.

Please refer to the enclosed job description for the detailed key accountabilities in this role.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

You must be a creative thinker with a proven track record of producing high-impact marketing assets and campaign concepts at pace without compromising on quality. Strong typographic and layout skills are essential, as demonstrated in a portfolio of work, alongside a comprehensive understanding of the design process.

You must be fully proficient in Adobe CC, with expertise in designing for both print and digital formats, and knowledge on how to create gifs and 3D covers. Excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills are a must, ensuring you can handle multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with asset databases and other marketing content tools would be an advantage.

Benefits

We care about work/life balance here at OUP. With this in mind we offer 25 days’ holiday that rises with service, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure (3-days) and a 35-hour working week. We are open to discussing flexibility in respect to working patterns, dependent on role. We also have a great variety of active employee networks and societies.

We help make your money go further by contributing to your pension up to 12%, offering loans and savings schemes through our partnership with Salary Finance, in addition to travel to work schemes and access to a wide range of local discounts.
