About the Role

As our new Head of Product Management, you will straddle business strategy, technology, and innovation to drive digital product success. In this high impact role, you will lead a team of highly skilled Product Managers with responsibility for the product strategy and roadmap for digital products for the UK and International business branches in the Education division; overseeing user experience and educational impact to meet customer expectations and deliver financial and strategic objectives, working in collaboration with key divisional and local stakeholders. You will ensure effective product management of digitally smart, user friendly, market competitive solutions throughout the entire lifecycle of service, from strategic planning to tactical operations, including researching and bringing new products to market, leading ongoing improvement and maintenance of existing services, and overseeing product retirement. Monitoring market and digital trends, advising on acquisition/partnership opportunities, and representing UK and International requirements on divisional and/or global initiatives where required.

This role is responsible for leading and delivering a comprehensive digital product strategy for the UK and International branches, aligning with OUP’s broader vision and driving long-term educational and commercial success. It champions user needs, leverages market insights to inform publishing plans, and ensures effective cross-functional collaboration across Publishing, Sales and Marketing. The position involves managing key stakeholder relationships, fostering a culture of innovation, and providing strategic leadership and team development. Additionally, it oversees operational planning and financial control, contributing to the organisation's overall performance and reputation as an employer of choice.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office. 

About You

  • Experience of developing product and business strategy.
  • Proven success in defining and delivering successful digital product strategies.
  • Experience of leading multiple cross-divisional business initiatives to tight timeframes.
  • Knowledge of educational policy and pedagogy and a demonstrable experience of digital education, publishing and learning technologies.
  • Experience of using management information systems to analyze business performance and market trends, particularly of digital products and services, as well as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Explicit experience in delivering and evolving service in a disaggregated platform model, including in the evolving context of commoditization, and cloud services exploitation.
