Senior Finance Business Partner

About the Role

As our new Senior Finance Business partner, you will provide high quality and proactive finance business partnering to the global sales and marketing function and their management team to achieve annual and strategic objectives, and will provide UK business partnering support for ELT branches (in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Turkey and Japan), liaising with Group Finance and providing oversight of the consolidated financial statements.

Duties will include:

  • Working with the Sales management team, providing insight into business performance and recommending actions to improve performance and achieve business goals
  • Working alongside the Sales management team to devise and deliver strategy, including appropriate allocation of resources and targeted investment.
  • Inputting into strategic planning to provide challenge and support in setting business goals, delivering 5YP plan, budget and forecasts. Provide a clear understanding of how financials will be delivered, and clear understanding of risks. 
  • Ensuring all major commercial decisions taken within the business are done with sound commercial judgement, establishing clear assumptions and robust analysis in the decision-making process.
  • Reviewing the consolidated ELT Branch performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of financial results to recommend optimal allocation of resource.
  • Overseeing branch audit and ICF recommendations
  • Identifying opportunities to share and implement best practice across ELT branches by improving communication between branches and to/from the UK.
  • Performing ad-hoc business and market analysis to aid effective decision-making.
  • Working effectively as part of the ELT and the wider OUP Finance team.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office. 

About You

  • Experience of an Operational Finance role within a complex international organization
  • Experience in commercial or business partnering role
  • Initiative and ability to successfully implement new ideas, with drive to push through
  • Able to analyse data to solve problems and make informed and insightful business recommendations pointing management towards opportunity for value addition
  • Demonstrates gravitas and ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to management teams
  • Able to coach and mentor finance professionals in their development
  • Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within an organisation
  • Able to travel internationally as required
  • A professional finance qualification is desirable but not essential
