JOB VACANCY

Senior Internal Communications Manager (Fixed Term Contract)

Oxford University Press is a department of the University of Oxford. We have a clear mission which informs everything we do: furthering the University’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship and education by publishing worldwide.

The Group Communications team is responsible for building and maintaining our reputation and brand, and for engaging and communicating with 5,000 colleagues around the world.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Internal Communications Manager to join our busy Group Communications team. Reporting into the Head of Corporate Affairs, you will play a key role in delivering OUP’s Group internal communications activities, in line with the Group Communications strategy. You’ll provide quality support and consultancy to leaders within OUP, especially its Group Functions, and deliver high-profile campaigns that inform, inspire, and connect with our audiences. You will also have responsibility for contributing to Group Communications’ global planning and content management activities, which help the whole team to manage time and resources effectively.

You’ll regularly work and interact with colleagues from all over the world, and across all levels of seniority, so an ability to build and maintain strong working relationships is essential.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for an exciting, challenging next step in their career, and who wants to gain experience of working for an international, high-profile organization that is making a difference to millions of people’s lives every year through education and research.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

You’ll be enthusiastic, motivated, passionate about our mission, and eager to make a positive difference to our team, and our activities.

The specific skills we’re looking for include:

  • Extensive experience of delivering internal or external communications. Internal comms experience preferable (but not essential)
  • Excellent standard of English, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate in a variety of styles
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate confidently with people at all levels, internally and externally
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, project manage campaigns, and prioritize successfully
  • Initiative and drive
  • Excellent skills across standard software: Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook

The following skills and experiences are also desirable, but not essential:

  • Experience of using SharePoint or Office 365
  • Experience of developing video content

This is a 9 month fixed term contract covering maternity leave, with the possibility of an extension.  As an internal candidate, when applying for a secondment, you must discuss the opportunity and gain approval with your line manager/department in advance of submitting an application.

Benefits

We care about work/life balance here at OUP. With this in mind we offer 25 days’ holiday that rises with service, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure (3-days) and a 35-hour working week. We are open to discussing flexibility in respect to working patterns, dependent on role. We also have a great variety of active employee networks and societies.

We help make your money go further by contributing to your pension up to 12%, offering loans and savings schemes through our partnership with Salary Finance, in addition to travel to work schemes and access to a wide range of local discounts.

This role comes with the added benefit of a discretionary annual payment.
