This is an exciting opportunity to join us on a fixed term contract as Senior Publisher for Transfer Networks. This role is to drive retention of quality content across the OUP portfolio. You will develop and lead new strategies, processes, and opportunities for content retention. You will manage and continually improve the data and reporting of content retention and effectively communicate OUP’s approach internally and to external stakeholders as appropriate.
Duties of the role will include:
Drive growth of transfer networks across OUP journals, both through expanding existing networks and adding new journals and networks.
Continuously improve transfer workflows to maximise uptake through monitoring and responding to author needs, documenting best practice, managing policies and advocating for use with key stakeholders.
Produce analysis and interpretation of transfer data; make clear recommendations to senior management based on that analysis to inform strategic decision making.
Lead work with finance, production, and data teams to improve the article data which drives OUP’s transfer modelling and forecasting.
Manage internal communications resources to ensure they are up-to-date, relevant, and provide clear information for other OUP staff to use when communicating externally.
Participate in and represent OUP at designated external publishing/industry groups and initiatives.
Ensure OUP transfers align with industry / ethical best practice guidelines
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have/be:
Publishing or transferable professional experience
Strong understanding of journal publishing, including business models, sales models, policy initiatives, technology, systems, and the opportunities, sensitivities, and challenges of transfer networks.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate with both internal and external parties.
Strong data analysis and visualisation skills. Ability to synthesise complex data and make clear recommendations based on those data
