Account Development Manager

About the role

Our corporate sales team, part of the academic division, generate global sales for a wide variety of print and online services to healthcare and other companies. We are seeking an Account Development Manager to join our team to be responsible for new business development for custom content (supplements and local editions) and journal rights sales to pharma and related businesses.

This is a fast-paced and energetic environment and we are looking for someone who can grow our existing business globally. The role involves both selling direct to clients and via local publishers and agents all over the world with an element of project management involved post sale.

You will be managing relationships with existing clients as well as pro-actively seeking out new ones, but the focus is very much on taking the reins for new business development. Daily activities will involve utilizing a CRM database to manage a pipeline of customers and prospects, emailing and phoning clients and prospects, actively researching new prospects, liaising with colleagues in editorial and production teams and travelling internationally to business meetings such as the Frankfurt Bookfair.

About you

We are looking for a candidate with the dynamism to approach clients with creative solutions and effectively close sales. You will need to be exceptionally proactive and have the drive to succeed; you will enjoy working in sales and be motivated to achieve targets.

It is a complex market so your ability to quickly develop product knowledge is key, as is building relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You must also have strong organisational and project management skills and the ability to nurture clients throughout the sales cycle. 

Please note there is a requirement for international travel a few times a year
