(Assistant) Editor

About the Role

The Primary Department is dynamic and creative and is responsible for growing a range of print and digital resources as well as established brands that include Oxford Reading Tree, Project X, Read Write Inc. and Numicon.

We are looking for an Editor to join our Primary English team to help us build our market-leading primary literacy resources. We would also consider applications at Assistant Editor level.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining schedules, budgets and quality control
  • Checking manuscripts and proofs
  • Liaising with a variety of suppliers including authors and freelancers
  • Helping to manage, support and quality control editorial freelancers
  • Maintaining an awareness of customer needs and the market

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have editorial skills and experience in digital and print publishing
  • Have excellent English language skills
  • Have a keen eye for detail
  • Be able to work under pressure and to manage several things at once
  • Enjoy working in a team
  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Have a genuine interest in primary literacy resources for children
  • Be able to demonstrate awareness of the primary education market
