JOB VACANCY

Assistant Product Owner

Education changes lives forever. It broadens horizons, breaks down barriers, and fires imaginations. Like the University of Oxford of which we are a part, we are committed to uncompromising standards, freedom of expression, and the enrichment of lives through education. This is our motivation, our purpose, and our mission. It is why 100% of the money we make is reinvested into education and research. It is why we all care deeply about reaching more people, in more places, with world-class learning and research materials and services.

About the Role

As our new Assistant Product Owner, you will create and deliver digital product improvements through prioritizing work for development teams and accepting new features, tools, and other deliverables according to agreed ways of working. You will also embed change through rolling out new processes and documentation, and training end-users on new features. You will oversee the product lifecycle by working with support teams to ensure a timely resolution to customer issues and communicating with stakeholders.

This role offers the successful candidate an opportunity to gain many transferable skills and see the functional changes they specify and drive go to market at speed.  Problem solving is a big part of this position, and you will need to be good at expressing requirements and doing exploratory work. You will ideally be a digital product professional, with excellent stakeholder management, a focus on delivery and technical understanding.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Backlog management and prioritisation
  • Delivering product change
  • User experience
  • Embedding change
  • Overseeing the product journey

We operate a hybrid working policy and expect this role to require approximately 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

You will have:

  • Experience of delivering change in a digital product environment.
  • Experience of working in a digital delivery role (e.g. product owner, project manager, business analyst, platform manager, product manager etc.).
  • Demonstrable experience of creating and rolling out processes, documentation, and training materials, and of embedding change.
  • An understanding of education, in particular schools and teachers and what drives them, is desirable.
  • Experience of working with Agile methodologies is desirable.

Benefits

We care about work/life balance here at OUP. With this in mind we offer 25 days’ holiday that rises with service, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure (3-days) and a 35-hour working week. We are open to discussing flexibility in respect of working hours and the use of technology to support regular remote working, dependent on role. We also have a great variety of active employee networks and societies.

We help make your money go further by contributing to your pension up to 12%, offering loans and savings schemes through our partnership with Salary Finance, in addition to travel to work schemes and access to a wide range of local discounts.

Please see our Rewards and Recognition page for more information.
