Data Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a Data Manager to be responsible and accountable for operational data accuracy, integrity and delivery for the UK and international business.  You will be responsible for ensuring business data requirements and reporting interests are aligned with business strategy for key local, Divisional and Press-wide initiatives.  You will have responsibility for 2 Data Analysts and will help to drive process improvement, best practice, and upskilling the business so that we can improve approach and data integrity.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Ensuring operational data is delivered efficiently and to a high standard
  • Acting as the annual pricing owner – managing a key business process to drive commercial value
  • Responsibility for continuous improvements to reporting to ensure increasing information quality and efficiency of effort
  • Responsibility as Education UK (EDUK) systems lead, supporting the business with query resolution and improvements
  • Lead role for EDUK, representing the business on local, divisional or group wide data and/or systems projects. Examples would include but are not limited to the ERP reporting workstream, the ERP profit centre/cost centre workstream, etc
  • Responsible for all operational data reporting, ensuring the business is aware of delivery schedules and the accuracy of input data into the Data Team itself
  • Management of EDUK Data Analysts, ensuring the team are skilled and motivated

Please note that for this role we can offer flexibility in working hours and are willing to consider working arrangements of 3 days a week or more.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Operational experience within a large ERP system such as SAP
  • Operational experience within an MIS (Management Information System) such as SAPBW
  • High level numeracy and analytical skills, with the ability to work with and understand large volumes of data
  • Experience of working in finance, or in support of a finance team
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering business and data process enhancements or improvements
  • Experience of an expert/leadership position within a high-functioning team
  • Strong MS Office experience, particularly Excel
  • Direct management experience is desirable

We’re all currently working from home at the moment due to COVID.  We are currently thinking through how we use our offices in the future and are open to discussing flexibility within this such as a blend of office and home working.

We are open to discussing flexibility in respect of working hours and the use of technology to support regular remote working, dependent on role.
