The English Language Teaching Assessment team are responsible for the production and delivery of a range of OUP online English language tests and practice materials for speakers of other languages. The Oxford Test of English (OTE) is an online test for adult learners of English, the purpose of the test is to provide a valid, reliable and flexible method of certificating.

About the Role

This varied customer-facing role sits within a friendly and supportive team and is an ideal opportunity for a proactive individual with administration experience looking to learn and develop.

Key duties of this position include:

  • Supporting colleagues and external stakeholders in the effective running of test development activities.
  • Monitoring the progress of research activity.
  • Liaising with OUP Reps and Customer Support teams to provide operational support to Test Centres worldwide.
  • Coordinating the end-to-end process of freelance assessor recruitment and training.
  • Support the administration associated with the assessors, including monitoring marking to ensure agreed standards are met but also availability schedules and payments.
  • Ensuring OTE test centre applications meet requirements.
  • Ensuring systems and databases are maintained and improved when required.
  • Providing reports on the status of operational activities.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and assisting with introduction of new work processes.
  • Prepare print and digital content for transformation into the appropriate output format, including as required: detailed check of styling, and checking loading of digital assets.
  • Check content and product functionality at defined stages prior to final publication.

This position is based in Oxford, however we’re all currently working from home at the moment due to COVID.  We are currently thinking through how we use our offices in the future and are open to discussing flexibility within this, such as a blend of office and home working.

About You

You will be a confident communicator with the ability to work independently when required.

You will have:

  • Previous experience within a busy administration or operational based role.
  • Excellent Team Player.
  • The ability to multi-task effectively and work under pressure to meet customer demands.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • IT literate and comfortable using; Word, Outlook and Excel (training can be provided if required)


  • Experience of Publishing in the ELT or Education industry.
  • Experience of working in a complex matrix or international organization.
