DevOps Engineer

About the Role

In this role you will work with product/systems owners to understand new opportunities and problem statements and collaborate with Engineering and Architecture colleagues to identify appropriate technologies, solution designs and practical workflows that can be used to develop, implement and quality assure suitable solutions. Solution delivery may be through development of new capabilities within projects and programmes, or enhancements to existing applications within value streams.

This role will have hands-on responsibility for guiding development teams in the adoption and continuous improvement of DevOps practices, primarily those in house but also extending to advise partner or third-party vendors, ensuring OUP standards, processes and documentation are adhered to. You will also work closely with Quality Assurance, Infrastructure and Information Security and Data Privacy colleagues to ensure all aspects of delivery, functional and non-functional, are fully met.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office. 

About You

Our ideal person will have experience of programming languages, software frameworks, SDLC toolsets and cloud infrastructure services, as well as varied delivery methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban and Scaled Agile.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • A deep understanding of technology and how it can be both developed and used to meet business requirements.
  • Broad knowledge of technologies, such as node.JS, Java, Python, MongoDB, REST, Docker, AWS,  GitHub and practices, such as CI/CD, containerisation, Infrastructure as Code.
  • Firsthand DevOps tooling experience with Circle CI, Jenkins, Terraform, CodeBuild, CodePipeline, CloudFormation, Elastic Beanstalk, Elastic Load Balancer, Cloudwatch, NewRelic, Service Now.
  • SDLC Tooling expertise inJira, Confluence, Zephyr, Plutora.
  • Experience in delivering solutions within a customer-facing product delivery environment.
  • Good knowledge of business analysis and development methodologies, particularly agile development and preferably Scrum.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture principles.
