About the Role

The Humanities team at OUP publishes a wide range of successful and respected courses for ages 11 to 18 across a range of subjects including; History, RE, Psychology and PE. These include print and digital resources for teachers and students. This is a really exciting opportunity to help us make a real impact in education, by joining our secondary schools team as an Editor.

Key duties of the role will include:

  • Progressing resources through the production process, from manuscript to finished product (both print and digital).
  • Proactive problem-solving to ensure that resources come out to schedule and within budget.
  • Liaising with colleagues, freelancers, authors and suppliers.
  • Monitoring spend against defined budgets.
  • Developing skills in print and digital resource production for the schools market.

This position is based in Oxford, however we’re all currently working from home at the moment due to COVID.  We are currently thinking through how we use our offices in the future and are open to discussing flexibility within this, such as a blend of office and home working.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic Publishing professional with great communication, team work and project management experience, to join our successful Secondary Humanities editorial team. We’re also open to applications from Teachers (ideally secondary) who have transferable skills and would like to start a career in Publishing.

You will have:

  • Excellent organisational, time management and problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritise and communicate effectively.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and good attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain and administer editorial systems.
  • Knowledge of the UK schools’ market.
  • High level of computer literacy; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
