HSSE Coordinator

About the Role

The Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) Co-ordinator position sits within a small, friendly team that work closely with the facilities management team. You will be responsible for providing varied, essential support to OUP’s UK sites. Key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively support UK management teams to implement OUP’s HSSE policies and framework
  • Providing employees with professional advice and guidance on relevant UK legal requirements and assist with the development of local processes, procedures and risk assessments
  • Coordinating building fire risk assessments and action plans
  • Managing the online DSE workstation training and assessment process for approximately 2500 users. Coordinate resulting actions for those employees who require special support or adjustments to use workstations
  • Collecting and collating accident, incident and near misses data and prepare accident reports
  • Leading and supporting investigations as appropriate.
  • Analysing data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Maintaining and updating the HSSE training needs matrix
  • Organising suitable training through a range of media whilst maintaining training records for employees
  • Administering the HSSE committee meetings, distributing minutes and ensure actions are implemented
  • Occasionally travel to other UK sites (e.g London and Kidlington).

About You

You will be an organised team player who is enthusiastic about the work you undertake. You will also have:


  •  NEBOSH certificate (or studying towards)
  • Relevant experience within HSSE
  • Up to date knowledge of HSSE legislation and good practice
  • Computer literate
  • Strong administration skills
  • A full driving license and willingness to undertake occasional travel within the UK. 


  • Experience of supporting HSSE in a Facilities Management environment
  • NEBOSH certificate in Fire Safety Certificate
  • IEMA environmental qualification.
