Marketing Assistant

We are the world’s largest university press. We have both a worldwide reach and a personal understanding of local needs, partnering on the ground to adapt publications and resources to meet the individual needs of communities, societies, and countries. We partner with researchers, educators, and technology partners to stay ahead of the changing ways people around the world are accessing and sharing knowledge. With a presence in more than 50 countries and millions of customers around the world, an idea launched at OUP can have global impact.

We believe that the skills you bring to OUP are just a starting point. We want you to have the opportunity to expand your abilities and innovate and develop in areas which both interest you, and support your aspirations.

  • Conducting analyses of campaigns and social media channels as part of reporting to key stakeholders

Please note that if suitable, we would be open to offering the successful candidate an opportunity to take part in the Marketing Apprenticeship.

About You

Some experience of working within a marketing and/or publishing environment would be preferable but is not essential.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work accurately and quickly without supervision
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A strong sense of initiative with the ability to make appropriate suggestions for improvements to both marketing campaigns and working practices
  • Highly creative and have a can-do, positive attitude

  • Knowledge of social media channels
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), and a knowledge of content management systems would be beneficial.

We’re all currently working from home at the moment due to COVID.  We are currently thinking through how we use our offices in the future and are open to discussing flexibility within this such as a blend of office and home working.

We care about work/life balance here at OUP. With this in mind, we offer 25 days’ holiday that rises with service, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure (3-days) and a 35-hour working week. We are open to discussing flexibility in respect of working hours and the use of technology to support regular remote working, dependent on role. We also have an on-site gym with subsidised membership fees and a great variety of active employee networks and societies.

We help make your money go further by contributing to your pension up to 11%, offering loans and savings schemes through our partnership with Salary Finance, in addition to travel to work schemes and access to a wide range of local discounts.
