Production Editor (Fixed term contract)

Our English Language Teaching (ELT) Division is a global leader in the provision of multimedia English language teaching, learning and assessment materials and our ELT Assessment is responsible for the production and delivery of a range of OUP online English language tests and practice materials for speakers of other languages.

About the role:

The Production Editor assists with the processing of test materials through an online database and with the production of online English language tests. The role involves working with test materials at various stages of their production cycle, from creation on the database, through editing changes and adding of digital assets, to preparing statistical data for analysis.

A typical day would be:
• Loading and processing test content and digital assets (graphics and audio) through online assessment systems
• Making proof reading and vetting amendments to material in the test database
• Assisting with the construction and publishing of tests
• Working with internal assessment staff and external analysts to produce and validate test content. NB Training for bespoke software packages is provided
• Liaison with our digital technology team over the logging and monitoring of system bugs and participation in user acceptance    testing on system developments.
• Creating and updating process documentation
• Proofreading assessment products

Please note: This role is a fixed term contract (or secondment) initially for 6 months with possibility for extension.

About you:

You will need to have a good level of competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project and have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS and XML. It is essential that you have experience of working with digital assets (graphics and audio files) and some proven experience in a digital environment, preferably in the educational sector and/or publishing environment.

To fulfil this role you will need to be extremely organised and target-driven, and be able to prioritise a demanding and varied workload to ensure assessment objectives are achieved to schedule. Attention to detail is paramount and you should be solution-focused with an enquiring mind.
