Senior Production Editor (Fixed term contract/Secondment)

Our English Language Teaching (ELT) Division is a global leader in the provision of multimedia English language teaching, learning and assessment materials and our ELT Assessment is responsible for the production and delivery of a range of OUP online English language tests and practice materials for speakers of other languages.

About the role

The Senior Production Editor works with a team of Production Editors to process test materials through various stages of their production cycle, including loading content, managing digital assets, creating tests, checking the accuracy of content, and preparing statistical data for analysis. This job involves liaising with our digital technology team over the logging and monitoring of system bugs, working with Design and UX, and participation in user acceptance testing on system developments. The role is also the single point of contact for global assessment documentation.

The key responsibilities are to lead a team of Production Editors in processing digital and print assessment products, you will work with internal assessment staff and external analysts to produce data outputs for statistical validation of content.

  • Set up and monitoring product and project schedules as well as loading   and processing test content and digital assets (graphics and audio) through online assessment systems
  • Make proofreading and vetting amendments to material in the test database.
  • Construct and publishing of online tests, creating and updating process documentation
  • Coordinate the logging and monitoring of system bugs and change requests

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience of line management or leading small teams. You should be tech savvy and be able to demonstrate a good level of competence in Microsoft Word and Excel and have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS and XML as well as experience of using Microsoft Project or other scheduling tools.

We ask that you have project management experience and be able to prove a background in a digital environment in the educational or publishing sector with both digital and print materials, also
• Experience of working with digital assets (graphics and audio files)
• Copy-editing and proofreading experience
• Good attention to detail
• Experience of managing freelancers
• Organised and target-driven, and be able to prioritise a demanding and varied workload to ensure assessment objectives are achieved to schedule
• Solution-focused and have an enquiring mind

Please note this is a 6 month Fixed Term Contract
