About the Role
As Senior FP&A Manager you will lead complex FP&A activities as determined by the FP&A managers and interact with Finance Business Partners, Divisional FDs and business management teams to support the development of FP&A capability.
Key responsibilities:
Lead small teams in any FP&A project including (but not limited to) reporting, budgeting, forecasting, decision support or data management and produce output ready for Divisional consumption.
Interact with and challenge Business Partners and Divisional management teams on assumptions and conclusion to ensure rigour in analysis.
Bring additional cross OUP Divisional or Group function insights to analysis including market knowledge, historical information, provisions, accruals and reasons for variances and provide direction to sub team members on how to use the information.
Develop complex reports, models and approaches using analysis and problems solving skills to support projects where there may be incomplete or conflicting data and provide recommendations.
Analyse existing and forecast finance information to ensure that information is accurate, providing detailed explanations on errors or variances that have occurred against budget.
Provide advice on cost control to all OUP staff to ensure correct financial processes and procedures are followed and Group accounting policies are adhered to.
Identify data quality issues and work with the data team and help to resolve the issues, providing analysis and insight.
Understand and communicate complex OUP finance information clearly to colleagues and help to make it understood.
Identify and propose radically alternative approaches and techniques in finance activities, processes and procedures and work with the FP&A team to continually improve processes.
Coach team members in development opportunities required to develop as a Finance professional.
Identify personal interests and developmental needs and adopt a continual learning ethos to build hard and soft skills necessary to develop into a rounded finance professional.
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
About You
Essential:
Finance qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
Experience of problem solving and analysis techniques to define problems
Successfully provided and implemented new ideas
Experience of leading teams to deliver projects to deadlines
Experience of prioritising and dealing with multiple demands
Ability to clearly communicate compelling messages to business leaders
Commitment to continual personal professional development
High level of competence in Excel
Desirable:
Experience in finance software tools that automate and improve data analysis (e.g. deploys ML or AI routines)
Experience working with commercial team finance support, financial modelling and scenario planning
