Supplier Manager - Paper Print and Bind

About the role

You'll be a Supplier Manager responsible for Paper, Printing and Binding within the Direct Procurement team. This role is required to support the strategy for the category and to deliver on benefit targets, provide exceptional supplier management and assist with sourcing activities.

Paper, Print and Bind (PPB) is the largest category of spend in OUP. This role is responsible for the ongoing management of the global suppliers that deliver print manufacturing services required to produce our books and journals.

The Supplier Manager will also be involved in the sourcing and selection processes as directed by the PPB Category Manager. You will work across all four of our divisions within OUP identifying areas of opportunity with regards to process improvement, market analysis and process efficiency.

You are accountable for ensuring the supplier base is price competitive for the complex and varied services and specifications within OUP and that quality and schedule requirements are met. You are required to support the divisions in their day-to-day activity, acting as an ultimate point of escalation for supplier issues, along with ensuring that regular formal reviews and future initiatives are deployed appropriately.

About you

This would be a great opportunity for someone who wants to nurture the world of print. We need someone who is going to come in to this role with a passion for print, take the reins and make some influential decisions. You will ideally have excellent knowledge of Printing and Paper procurement and an understanding of the Publishing process as well as;

  • Experience in supplier management, inclusive of strategic partnerships, this would ideally be on a global scale
  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills both internal and external
  • Excellent analytical/commercial skills
  • A good understanding of the dynamics of the supply market place & demonstrates the ability to build in-depth expertise in a specialised category area
  • Strong influencing skills which enable excellent project management skills including change management
