Stock Planning Production Administrator

About Us

The Stock Planning Department manages backlist stock levels ensuring maximum availability of lines with minimal stock by making accurate quantity, quality and profitability decisions.  The role manages global Print On Demand production, which includes file, stock and metadata management.

 

 

About the Role

The Production Controller’s role is a combination of stock control and manufacturing. The primary focus is to maximize global sales by ensuring stock availability. This is achieved by using a variety of programmes on internal systems and efficiently managing workloads via suppliers.  The role requires technical knowledge of Excel, SAP, and APO forecasting systems, to enable accurate and economic decisions to be made.  The production controller maximizes departmental profitability by employing excellent cost control, along with possessing an extensive knowledge of manufacturing techniques that enables them to select the appropriate treatment for each title. 

 

The Production Controller is also expected to develop good working relationships with a variety of contacts, from external suppliers to internal departments within OUP, to ensure that concerns are addressed and settlements are negotiated as required. 

 

About You

Our ideal candidate will have significant experience in digital book production with a good knowledge of planning and/or manufacturing techniques. However we are open-minded as to applicants, so should you possess supplier engagement skills as a minimum, we would welcome your application.

A fundamental requirement for this role is a keen eye for detail in order to maintain high quality products and accurate data. An understanding of stock management principles is also key to this position.

Candidates will be expected to have excellent communication skills.

A good level of computer literacy and the ability to manage content version control is crucial. 

The successful candidate will be well organized and able to prioritize their own workload. They will possess enthusiasm, an aptitude for problem solving, proficiency in effective decision making, and an ability to work to tight deadlines.
