The Education Division publishes children’s books and schoolbooks from pre-school to secondary level in a variety of print & digital formats and across a wide spectrum of subject areas.  The International Sales team within this division are responsible for the export of these schoolbooks to English medium schools overseas and also publish specific resources for different international curricula.  It is a successful and rapidly growing team working in a fast-paced and varied environment.

About the role

Through our direct sales teams and regionally based Intergroup entities, the International Sales team within the EDUK (Educational) division are responsible for the export of schoolbooks to English medium schools overseas as well as publishing specific resources for different International curriculum. It is a successful and rapidly growing team working in a fast-paced and varied environment. 

We are looking for a resilient and collaborative self-motivated individual to join our International sales team to drive sales and grow market share of the Education list through our Intergroup channel.  

Based in Oxford, with some travel overseas, you will be enabling the local branches to promote the Educational list and ensuring achievement of agreed regional sales targets through provision of regular product training, consultative sales training and in-market coaching. You will also act as main point of contact between the local offices and the Educational Divisional departments.  You will be supporting the Area Manager in planning and strategy discussions, identifying business development and sales opportunities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Enable and support branches to achieve agreed sales targets.
  • Develop expert knowledge of the product range in order to provide effective sales support to branch contacts and maximise sales.
  • Maintain accurate records of all pricing and commercial agreements to ensure all activities meet profit goals.
  • Liaise with colleagues based in Oxford to support the needs of international branches, and ensure that resources are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Build relationships with key overseas contacts in supply chain and purchasing to ensure that orders are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner.
  • Support the Area Manager in the execution of branch visits and market planning; this role will include occasional travel.

About you

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrable collaboration and influencing skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, including aptitude for Excel
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent commercial awareness and experience in a commercial environment
  • Adaptability (you must be prepared to alter plans, when necessary, and deal with the unexpected) 

It would be beneficial if you could demonstrate:

  • sales experience
  • teaching experience/knowledge of the educational market
  • experience of living/working overseas
