Content Operations Specialist

About the Role

As our new Content Operations Specialist, you will manage the preparation, conversion, loading, QA and publication of digital content for assigned products, ensuring appropriate quality standards and schedules are met. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of new digital content production methods, including the provision of support materials and training to business users, and will manage the production of digital content for OE UK digital platforms, including configuration, upload, amends and publication, to agreed standards and timescales in order to meet the publishing objectives of the division.

Other duties will include:

  • Safeguard the quality of digital content by maintaining standards, utilising QA tools and procedures to ensure complete, accurate and appropriate formats and schemas are used in assigned products.
  • Ensure digital content is archived in appropriate content management systems and made available for Rights re-use with supporting documentation.
  • Manipulate assets as necessary so that they meet the required standards for use in OE UK platforms, to include simple edits to media files.
  • Carry out quality assurance work and report issues in the bug-tracking system (Jira) and follow these up, so that digital products meet agreed acceptance criteria.
  • Carry out technical problem-solving to include XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript or other syntax manipulation in order to resolve issues raised by functional or editorial testing so that issues are resolved as efficiently as possible.
  • Support and train users of OE’s tools and processes, including creating and maintaining support materials, so that users can create and test products according to agreed processes and timescales.
  • Working in cross-functional teams, contribute towards and roll-out new digital content tools, processes, and standards including collaboration with the wider team to analyse systems and initiate improvements where appropriate.
  • Utilise analytics to improve content creation, metadata, build, retrieval, reuse and archiving processes in order to assist editorial teams with planning for content releases and updates

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

Essential:

  • Ability to deliver multiple digital projects to challenging deadlines
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Office suite, most importantly Excel
  • Experience of CMS data entry and metadata concepts
  • Experience of supporting users with a range of technical abilities
  • Experience of carrying out functional testing on software
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of digital content data models, schemas and standards
  • Understanding of XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and web diagnostics
  • Experience of using audio, image and video manipulation software
  • Experience of working in cross-functional teams using agile delivery
  • Experience of working in a digital publishing environment
