Within OUP, the English Language Teaching Division (ELT) is a global leader in the provision of multimedia English language teaching and learning materials. Operating in over 100 countries, it reaches millions of teachers and students each year to support the development of English language proficiency.

The Strategy & Business Planning (S&BP) team are responsible for ensuring that key decisions are taken with consistent and robust data, and insightful analysis, in order to negotiate an increasingly competitive market.

About the role

Working closely with the Management Accountant – Business Planning, you will analyse, review and provide recommendations on divisional performance in order to inform the strategic business planning process. Principle accountabilities will include:

  • Managing and conducting regular audits of new product performance
  • Providing monthly sales reports to board directors
  • Ensuring the most up to date information is accessible to relevant stakeholders in a timely fashion
  • Provide analysis support to team and wider ELT Finance department, including ad hoc analysis to support annual planning cycle
  • Using knowledge and skills to investigate interesting trends that can act as a basis for further investigation
  • Produce historical financial information for input into the divisional planning process

About you

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Highly numerate and logical problem solver, with a keen eye for detail
  • Ideally studying towards a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
  • Have advanced Excel skills
  • Have strong communication skills – with the ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance personnel throughout the business
  • A motivated individual who is able to work under their own initiative with the ability to prioritise workload
