Licensing and Partnerships Manager

About the Role

The role presents an exciting opportunity to develop new collaborations with business partners that will generate new income for our English Language Teaching division and complement our product development, helping to put Oxford University Press forefront of educational technology.

The successful candidate will…

  • Establish and sustain business relationships with a broad range of product-development, and licensing partners in order to achieve divisional and departmental subsidiary income and sales targets.
  • Maintain an overview of the global educational technology market to be able to identify partnership targets and create analysis reports on segments of opportunity.
  • In discussion with internal stakeholders, evaluate new business opportunities in the light of divisional revenue and product strategy objectives.
  • Develop a broad pipeline of potential business opportunities with partners and manage the development of these leads into focused, deliverable business cases.
  • Secure buy-in from business stakeholders for partner projects and present these for board approval where appropriate.
  • Negotiate effectively to minimize risk and maximize the return from new projects.
  • Advocate successfully with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the partner projects meet their objectives and that have the desired benefits for the business.
  • Liaise with Business Development counterparts in other business divisions, sharing opportunities where relevant.

We’re all currently working from home at the moment due to COVID. We are currently thinking through how we use our offices in the future and are open to discussing flexibility within this such as a blend of office and home working. 

About You

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and commercial acumen, and bring the following to this role:

  • An entrepreneurial outlook with an ability to envision new product and business models
  • Experience in the areas of digital media, new business development, partner negotiations, developing and proposing business cases
  • Familiarity with contracts and copyright
  • Ability to communicate successfully with counterparts in a wide range of roles and at different levels of seniority
  • Experience in the publishing or education sectors
  • Excellent written and presentational communication skills in English.
