Marketing Manager

The Education Division provides resources and services across Primary, Secondary & Vocational education, Children’s fiction and Home Learning, both for the UK and for customers around the world. About the Role

We are seeking a Marketing Manager to develop, manage and implement the marketing strategy for Bond, Bond Online, Dictionaries and language resources across our home learning and children’s trade division, developing expertise and market strategy across specific consumer channels in order to increase brand awareness, sales revenue and market share, embedding and evolving key home learning and children’s partnerships.
The post holder will work closely with publishing, sales, commercial and other departments to define strategies for new programmes and effectively manage take to market plans.

Key responsibilities will include –

  • Devising, delivering and monitoring integrated marketing strategies to UK customers across key channels.
  • Ensuring all activity is effective and generates maximum return on investment.
  • Analysis of customer and market information and identification of target markets and market opportunities to inform sales and marketing plans and to feed into resource decision making.
  • Working collaboratively with publishers, sales managers and other functions from initial product
    to publication, and throughout the life of the product, contributing to the development of commercially successful publishing.
  • Working closely with sales, ensuring they have the tools and support to meet sale targets and respond to market conditions.
  • Delegating, managing and monitoring work set to external agencies and freelancers in order to deliver plans effectively and on schedule.
  • Continuously developing, implementing, and monitoring on and offline marketing activities to help increase our profile in the market, maximise revenue growth, and increase market share.

About You

You will be a creative, customer-focused individual who learns quickly and has the ability to understand and respond to internal and external customer needs, driving the continual development of our marketing strategy.

The successful candidate will have:


  • Marketing experience at Campaign Manager level
  • Experience of digital marketing and marketing digital product
  • Experience of managing a budget
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills
  • Ability to prioritise a heavy workload with maximum attention to detail
  • Good presentation skills
  • Innovative and creative
  • Experience of managing projects


  • Publishing or marketing qualifications (e.g. CIM)
  • Knowledge of home learning and commercial publishing market
  • Line management/supervisory experience


We care about work/life balance here at OUP; with this in mind we offer 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays), and a 35-hour working week, along with the flexibility to start and finish late or early as required. Working from home once a week will also be possible if required.

Our pension contribution is up to 11%.
