Portfolio Analyst

The Global Change Management Office (GCMO) is a centre of expertise for change planning and delivery at Oxford University Press.  The team works collaboratively with colleagues in portfolio management and change management offices across OUP's divisions and functions. Our goals are:
• To establish a shared view of OUP's priorities for change
• To enable informed decision-making around change
• To enhance the change delivery capability of the Press
• To provide visibility of the total return on our change investment.

About the role

The Portfolio Analyst plays a key role in the team, with a specific responsibility for reporting and portfolio analysis.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Portfolio management - Supporting the development and ongoing improvement of a portfolio management approach, along with supporting toolkits, to ensure that key changes are identified and monitored and that risks, interdependencies and change impacts are effectively managed.
  • Build knowledge and capability - Working directly with change teams across the Press to build knowledge and capability around portfolio management.

About you

You will bring a strong portfolio, business change, or programme background to this role and have experience of working in a Centre of Expertise or Portfolio Office. You understand the application of best practice delivery approaches in global organizations. You are a clear and confident communicator, able to build productive working relationships across a range of stakeholder groups. You enjoy working within a fast-moving team environment, and you use your skills and expertise to contribute to achieving team goals.

Key skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in a Portfolio Office
  • Experience of managing status and dashboard reporting
  • Skilled in data management, analysis, and presentation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of methodologies associated with change delivery, e.g. programme and project management, business change, benefits management, Lean, Agile delivery (Scrum and Scaled Agile)
  • Excellent organization skills and a self-motivated deliverer - able to manage own work to deadlines
  • Flexible and pragmatic attitude to work, happy to support others to achieve team goals
  • Confident user of standard Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel (including pivot tables, charts, formulae, and macros), PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Relevant industry qualifications, e.g. MoP, SAFe.
