About the Role

As a Production Data Analyst, you will be responsible for providing internal teams and external suppliers with accurate data relating to the production process, supporting effective supplier management, accurate reporting, and driving efficiencies. Configuring and managing tools and processes supporting the publishing process, from authoring to online publication.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating and maintaining accurate and up-to-date product specifications in internal systems to support internal colleagues and suppliers.
  • Providing accurate reporting and analysis of production data to the business as required.
  • Maintaining and updating reports used by internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Ensuring production systems are accurately configured and effectively integrated with other internal and external systems to support the accurate and timely flow and capture of publication data.
  • Ensuring all product schedules are accurately configured to reflect production requirements, and are updated in a timely, consistent and accurate manner to support accurate reporting and effective supplier management.
  • Creating and maintaining journal webpages with accurate instructions, submission templates and editorial board listings, to support submitting authors.
  • Supporting the Production Costs Analyst by administering department costs in a timely, accurate manner as required.
  • Analysing process and performance data and making recommendations to relevant internal teams on opportunities to improve performance, simplify processes or drive efficiencies.
  • Identifying, assessing, testing and managing the implementation of new tools to support the publishing process, in collaboration with other production teams as appropriate.
  • Collaborating with other production teams and internal stakeholders to achieve department and business goals and to ensure an outstanding experience for customers and clients during the production process.

About You

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:  


  • Excellent analytical skills, including a high level of numeracy and comprehension of complex processes
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to learn quickly and work flexibly with data and a variety of tools and applications
  • Good IT skills, in particular a command of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail


  • Superior negotiation and influencing skills
  • Degree level or equivalent
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Experience in a production environment
  • Experience in a publishing environment
  • Experience of data management and/or systems management
  • Familiarity with process-management philosophies, such as Lean Six Sigma
  • Familiarity with database management software, SQL and VBA
  • Basic knowledge of XML, HTML and LaTeX.
