Education changes lives forever. It broadens horizons, breaks down barriers, and fires imaginations. Like the University of Oxford of which we are a part, we are committed to uncompromising standards, freedom of expression, and the enrichment of lives through education. This is our motivation, our purpose, and our mission. It is why 100% of the money we make is reinvested into education and research. It is why we all care deeply about reaching more people, in more places, with world-class learning and research materials and services.

You will research and develop concepts, as well as delivering new publishing for the varied international schools’ market, including: supporting key growth areas in STEM, leading on the Skills strategy, acting as Product Lead for Secondary MyiMaths, undertaking research into new products and new editions of our market-leading International Baccalaureate (IB) resources and developing digital subscriptions.

Duties of the role include:

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of the International Baccalaureate secondary backlist and forward plans, with a focus on STEM.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing colleagues to shape and position integrated product and service offers for specific segments to meet customers/user needs.
  • Demonstrate highly effective commissioning skills and expert product development skills, monitor quality and problem-solve to ensure content is appropriate and accessible for the target audience.
  • Identify, recruit, and motivate skilled authors, reviewers and advisors, maintaining strong and effective relationships.
  • Advise on first cost and required freelance budgets and lead on project costings, maximising financial viability.
  • Create and oversee project schedules and manage projects through to delivery, liaising closely with authors, the IB, the International Editorial Team, International Editorial Digital Lead, and Design, Production, and Digital teams.
  • Demonstrate highly effective inter-departmental communication.
  • Build effective relationships with schools, subject experts and relevant partners in the international education space.

We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.

About You

  • Experience of researching, commissioning and overseeing the successful delivery of print and digital projects.
  • A STEM background.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by teachers and secondary students when using English resources in an international and/or EAL context.
  • Financial literacy and the ability to assess and manage project viability.
  • Proven communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Previous commissioning experience, ideally in a similar field.

Please note that this is a 1 year fixed term contract.  As an internal candidate, when applying for a secondment, you must discuss the opportunity and gain approval with your line manager/department in advance of submitting an application.
