Regional Sales Manager

We have been a leading figure in publishing for more than 500 years. We have always been a forward-looking organization, maximizing the technology for the day, but the digital revolution is bringing enormous change, fast. That same spirit of adventure and entrepreneurialism is critical to our future success. In a fast changing publishing landscape, OUP welcomes the inquisitive, the inventive, and the ambitious; people who challenge the conventional, and pioneer the possible.

We believe that the skills you bring to OUP are just a starting point. We want you to have the opportunity to expand your abilities, and innovate and develop in areas which both interest you, and support your aspirations.

About the Role

We currently seek a highly motivated and experienced Sales Manager to join the dynamic and growing team responsible for selling OUP’s market-leading online resources (such as the Oxford Journals, Oxford Medicine Online, and the Oxford English Dictionary Online) in our core Academic market in the UK and Ireland.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • preparing and implementing sales strategies to maximise sales of Online Products and Journals to institutional customers
  • co-ordinating research into new prospects and new sales opportunities in order to identify areas for growth
  • making specialist sales calls, improving contacts and identifying upselling opportunities for OUP online resources and journals
  • building and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of OUP’s electronic product offering as it develops
  • acquiring and maintaining a demonstrably thorough knowledge of the electronic information publishing industry to help maintain OUP’s competitive advantage and respond well to customer requirements

This role is remote covering London and the East of England.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a publishing or publishing-related professional and able to demonstrate experience in sales or marketing. There is no line management responsibility with the role, so management experience is not required.

You should be highly results-oriented, a confident communicator with strong negotiating skills and strong interpersonal skills; extremely organised and able to effectively manage a high volume, complex workload through prioritisation of tasks in line with departmental objectives, and highly skilled in using software packages such as Excel, with a proven aptitude to learn and work with new systems

It would be desirable if you have knowledge of the electronic information publishing industry, its products, markets and trends.

We care about work/life balance here at OUP. With this in mind we offer 25 days’ holiday that rises with service, plus bank holidays and Christmas closure (3-days) and a 35-hour working week. We are open to discussing flexibility in respect of working hours and the use of technology to support regular remote working, dependent on role. We also have a great variety of active employee networks and societies.

This role comes with the added benefit of a car and a discretionary annual sales bonus.

We help make your money go further by contributing to your pension up to 12%, offering loans and savings schemes through our partnership with Salary Finance, in addition to travel to work schemes and access to a wide range of local discounts.

Please see our Rewards and Recognition page for more information.

Please contact with any queries relating to this role.

We are committed to supporting diversity in our workforce, and ensuring an inclusive environment where all individuals can thrive. We seek to employ a workforce representative of the markets that we serve and encourage applications from all.
