JOB VACANCY

Senior Group Internal Audit Manager

About the Role

As Senior Group Internal Audit Manager you’ll be part of a small team working globally to identify, prioritise and manage our risks. This role offers the opportunity to truly see all of OUP; over a number of years you can expect to travel anywhere from Brazil to Australia, across approximately 8 one week trips per year.

Working closely with the Group Director of Assurance you’ll be responsible for delivering audits across a whole range of business units/operations; there are c.120 audit units split into Group, Divisional and Centre (predominantly Oxford based), branches, and rep offices. We complete around 40 audits per year and this role will manage approximately 50% of these.

Coordinating the execution of the audit plan, you will perform portions of the audit work as well as oversee and review worked completed by auditors. Concluding the audits will require presentation to the Managing Director and Finance Director of findings and recommendations. The role will offer you a real opportunity to make your mark by providing advice, insight and assistance to senior management in order to improve their governance, risk management and control framework.

We have been a leading figure in publishing for more than 500 years. We have always been a forward-looking organization, maximizing the technology for the day, but the digital revolution is bringing enormous change, fast. That same spirit of adventure and entrepreneurialism is critical to our future success. In a fast changing publishing landscape, OUP welcomes the inquisitive, the inventive, and the ambitious; people who challenge the conventional, and pioneer the possible.

About You

To be successful in this role you’ll first and foremost need excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to work, communicate and build strong working relationships with a broad range of people. You’ll be inquisitive, creative in researching and analysing systems and processes, and have the ability to influence when presenting findings.

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant, or significant finance/accounting knowledge through experience
  • Experienced internal auditor/audit manager
  • Strong understanding of internal control structures and risk management frameworks
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Operational experience as a Finance professional in a complex, multi-national blue chip business
  • Working knowledge of SAP and experience in using computer aided audit tools (CAATs) and audit management software
  • Previous experience of the publishing industry
  • Fluency in relevant additional languages

This role comes with the added benefit of private medical insurance, a car/allowance, and annual bonus.
