Supply Chain & Inventory Data and Reporting Analyst (18 month FTC)

We have been a leading figure in publishing for more than 500 years. We have always been a forward-looking organization, maximizing the technology for the day, but the digital revolution is bringing enormous change, fast. That same spirit of adventure and entrepreneurialism is critical to our future success. In a fast-changing publishing landscape, OUP welcomes the inquisitive, the inventive, and the ambitious; people who challenge the conventional, and pioneer the possible.

About the Role

OUP is building a global supply chain and inventory planning centre of excellence, and this role will be critical to delivering value by working with data to enable the sharing of best practice and leveraging the scale of our global operations whilst remaining agile to local business needs.

Working as part of the Supply Chain and Inventory Development Team, and collaborating extensively with the Inventory Planning Team, you will be responsible for the creation or capture of data, and the creation of new assets through the combination of new and existing data assets, providing an end-to-near-end Analytics service to the departmental data users who may derive the ‘last mile’ of business value from data.  You will also help shape the reporting and analytics framework underpinning Sales and Operational Planning (S&OP).   Your reporting and analytics will contribute to the delivery of Supply Chain and Inventory Planning strategies across a broad set of topics, as required by the business and the Operating Divisions.

Duties will include:

  1. Data Assets: Creating new data assets with cross-functional value through the capture, creation, or combination of data.
  2. Data Analysis: Proactively and independently conducting analysis of data relating to Supply Chain and Inventory Planning in order to identify trends and opportunities for future operational improvements.
  3. Business Modelling: Designing and creating computer-based models to assist problem solving and business decision making.
  4. Performance management: Conceiving and creating business performance dashboards which highlight, using visualisation techniques, the appropriate Key Performance Indicators. Include graphical outputs to illustrate trends and drill-down to line level information.
  5. Report Design: Developing and documenting the business reporting requirements for Supply Chain & Inventory Planning. Consulting with stakeholders to interpret, understand and make suggestions.
  6. Data Reporting: Preparing, validating, interpreting and presenting a suite of reports for Supply Chain & Inventory Planning, to include metrics to senior management. You will be available and capable to do any priority ad hoc reporting that is required. The data is used to enable day-to-day management of operational teams, identify areas needing action, and opportunities for improvement.  Conformance to report delivery schedules is important to maintain the quality and mitigate the risk of reduced operational performance.

Please note that this is an 18 month fixed term contract covering a secondment.

About You

You will have:

  • Experience in SQL, Tableau and/or Alteryx for reporting and analytics and experience in data science/predictive modelling would be ideal
  • Expert-level experience of data reporting and analytics and the ability to present data effectively for a range of audiences
  • Attention to detail, with excellent numerical, statistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • High IT literacy, specifically advanced skills in relational databases, big data, visualisation, modelling, and dashboard creation coupled with a natural ability to assimilate and evaluate new systems/software packages
  • Advanced experience of SAP R3P and SAP4Hana and understanding of SAP table structure & content
  • Strong consultancy, communication and organisational skills; ability to share knowledge and expertise with peers
